Kerry leaders and Ireland's ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Pádraig Francis at the opening of the new Jakarta office and RD&A facility
Foodie PH | Kerry Group has officially opened its newest research and innovation hub in South Jakarta, marking a major milestone in the company’s push to accelerate sustainable food development across Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian market. The new facility, located in RDTX Place, Kuningan, was inaugurated on July 24, 2025, in a ceremony attended by Kerry leadership and Ireland’s ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Pádraig Francis.
What’s New?
The 1,200-square-meter site is more than just a corporate office — it’s a purpose-built innovation center featuring two labs dedicated to flavor creation and application (both sweet and savory), a full sensory suite, and a Co-Creation Lab that invites food and beverage customers to develop new products alongside Kerry’s team of scientists and experts. The facility aims to cut down time-to-market by promoting hands-on collaboration and faster product iteration.
“This facility is a game-changer for how we innovate in Indonesia,” said Janeley Haryono, General Manager of Kerry Indonesia. “It allows us to work side by side with local brands to create healthier, more localized food solutions that resonate with today’s consumers. It also directly aligns with the Indonesian government’s ‘Making Indonesia 4.0’ vision.”
Building the Future of Food in Southeast Asia
Indonesia’s food and beverage sector is booming, contributing over 7% to the country’s GDP in early 2024 and projected to grow further by year’s end. With a population expected to surpass 281 million by 2025, the need for nutritious and locally-inspired food innovation is more urgent than ever. Kerry’s presence — which includes manufacturing plants in Cikarang and Karawang — positions the company at the heart of this rapidly evolving market.
Siddharth Rastogi, Kerry Southeast Asia’s lead for Retail, Meat, and Marketing, emphasized the strategic advantage of Indonesia’s location. “It places us closer to our core Southeast Asian markets. That proximity helps us react quicker, co-develop products that match fast-changing consumer tastes, and become a real innovation partner for regional players.”
A Green Facility with Global Vision
The South Jakarta site reflects more than innovation — it’s also designed with sustainability in mind. Currently under review for LEED Gold certification, the building incorporates smart energy systems, sustainable materials, and daylight-responsive lighting. Waste was minimized throughout the construction phase, staying in line with Kerry’s global ESG commitments.
“The opening of this RD&A hub reflects a shared vision between Ireland and Indonesia for sustainable, inclusive progress,” said Ambassador Francis at the launch event. “It’s a testament to Ireland’s growing economic engagement in Southeast Asia and Kerry’s long-term commitment to local development.”
